Zawadi Media Advertising Policy

Last updated: October 2026 · Policy version 2026.10.1

This policy says which businesses can advertise on Zawadi Media and what ads can and can't contain. It is part of the Zawadi Media Product Terms. Every ad is reviewed against it before it runs. Following this policy doesn't replace following the law: you are responsible for your ads and the pages they link to.

1. Businesses and products we don't accept

We don't accept ads for, or ads that link to pages promoting, any of the following. This applies to every advertiser in every country.

  • Alcohol: beer, wine and spirits, bars and pubs, breweries, wineries, distilleries and liquor stores. (Restaurants are welcome, as long as the ad isn't about alcohol.)
  • Tobacco and nicotine, including cigarettes, cigars and nicotine pouches.
  • Vaping: e-cigarettes and vaping products.
  • Cannabis and marijuana, including THC and CBD products and dispensaries.
  • Gambling: casinos, sports betting, poker and lotteries, plus fantasy sports, prediction games and other services built around gambling.
  • Sweepstakes, prize draws and "you've won" promotions.
  • Weapons: guns, ammunition, and weapons of any kind. Ordinary kitchen and butcher knives and work tools (a nail gun, for example) are allowed. Pocket knives are allowed with a safety warning. Machetes are never allowed.
  • Adult content: sexual content, adult entertainment and escort services.
  • Dating services. Social networks are allowed if dating isn't their main purpose.
  • Political advertising: candidates, parties, elections, ballot measures, political causes, and political books.
  • Religious organizations. The only exception is an ad that names a religious organization only to recruit volunteers for non-religious community work.

2. Businesses a person always reviews

We accept ads in these areas, but a person at Zawadi Media checks every one before it runs, and the extra rules apply:

  • Healthcare: clinics, doctors, dentists, counselling and mental health services. Use careful wording. Don't claim to cure or treat a disease.
  • Medication and pharmacies: say "prescription only" where it applies.
  • Health supplements: use conservative claims ("may help support"), not claims that a product causes a result, unless you have the evidence.
  • Weight loss: heavily restricted. No promised amounts of weight loss.
  • Financial services: banking, loans and credit, investing, insurance and cryptocurrency. Show the real terms, and don't promise income or returns.
  • Housing: estate agents and realtors, rentals, and mortgages.
  • Employment: recruiting and job boards.
  • Cybersecurity services: only ethical security services, nothing that helps someone break into systems.

Housing, employment and credit ads must not discriminate, in their wording or their images, on grounds the law protects, such as race, color, religion, sex, disability, family status or national origin. Zawadi Media targets only by place, never by personal characteristics.

3. What every ad must be

  • Truthful. Everything an ad says is accurate, and you can show proof of any claim that needs it, such as prices, discounts, results, "best" or "number one", or "clinically proven".
  • Honest about results. No guaranteed outcomes ("guaranteed income", "get rich"), no "risk-free" without clear terms, and no reassurances like "not a scam".
  • Yours to use. You own everything in the ad, or have written permission to use it: images, words, music, logos, and anyone's name, face or voice.
  • Fair to other businesses. Don't name competitors in your ad. Comparisons are fine without naming them. Don't use another company's name or logo in a way that suggests it endorses you.
  • Free of impersonation. Don't show or imitate real people, including with AI, without their written permission. Celebrities, real or AI-generated, are never allowed.
  • Suitable for everyone. Ads can appear on sites visited by families. No violent, shocking, sexual or hateful content. Ads for children's products must speak to parents, not to children.
  • Clearly an ad. Don't imitate system messages, warnings, buttons or news stories, or pretend to be part of the website the ad appears on.

You are responsible for content you make with AI tools, just as for anything else in your ads. An AI-generated logo doesn't give you trademark rights, and it mustn't look like someone else's.

4. Where your ad links

  • The link must go to your own website, using https.
  • The page must work, be safe (no malware, phishing or unwanted software), and match what the ad offers.
  • The page mustn't trap people into payments or subscriptions they didn't clearly agree to, or hide the real price.
  • Redirects are checked. More than five, or redirects that end somewhere unexpected, aren't allowed.
  • If you change the page in a way that breaks this policy after your ad is approved, we may take the ad down.

5. Ad formats

  • Sizes: 300 × 250, 728 × 90, 320 × 50, and a wide 16:9 format.
  • Text: a headline of up to 40 characters and up to 150 characters of text.
  • Images: PNG, JPEG or WebP, up to 150 KB, with nothing hidden in the file.
  • Every ad shows our "Ad" label and a flag people can use to report it. Don't cover or imitate either.

6. How we check ads

Before an ad runs, we check it automatically. We check the business's industry, the ad's words for risky claims, the link (that it works, its redirects, and whether it's known to be malicious) and the image (whether it's unsafe, whether it shows people or other companies' logos, and the words in it). When a check finds something it can't decide, or the ad is in an area listed in section 2, a person decides. Some words, such as "wine" or "gun", only make a person look at the ad. They don't mean an automatic no: "wine-red paint" and "nail gun" are fine.

If an ad needs changes, we tell you exactly what and suggest a fix. If we turn an ad down, you can appeal once from the ad's page.

7. After an ad is approved

Anyone who sees an ad can report it, and we look at every report. We may take down an approved ad if it breaks this policy, if its landing page changes, after a valid copyright notice, or if the law requires it. Repeated or serious problems can lead to a warning, mandatory review of all your ads, suspension or termination, as the Product Terms explain.

8. Changes to this policy

The policy has a version number, and every ad review records the version it was checked against. When we change the policy, we publish a new version here. Ads already approved may be checked again under it.
